RETAIL PURCHASE INDEX

Monitoring of product presence in pharmacies is based on the "Retail Audit of Drugs in RF" data;

Two different indexes are calculated:

  • Numeric purchase index is the quantity of pharmacies in the sample that purchased the product divided by the total quantity of pharmacies in the sample.
  • Weighted purchase index is the share of the total turnover of pharmacies that purchased the preparation in the total turnover of pharmacies in the sample.

    Frequency:
    • Quarterly/monthly (Russia +52 separate regional units)

Advantages of use:

  • Retail sales analysis (distribution)
  • Assessment of regional medreps' activity
  • Competitive analysis

As an ad-hoc market research RMBC conducts detailed distribution analysis:

Purchase index by manufacturer: analysis of company products distribution. Every pharmacy that purchased at least one product of the given manufacturer is characterized as "product presence". Numeric and weighted indexes are calculated.

Purchase index by brand (group of products with common element in the name) is counted in a standard way. The numeric and weighted indexes are calculated.

Segment-weighted purchase index is based on the share of the given therapeutic category in pharmacy turnover. The index is calculated thus: the total category sales (to which the product belongs) in those sample pharmacies that purchased the product is divided by the total category sales in all the sample pharmacies.
